It's necessary to clean filters and coasters every day and,
at least once a week, pour a teaspoon of cleanser in the
blind filter in order to wash shower head filters. In easy
maintenance machines can be useful remove shower head filters
and clean them after a long soaking.
Always replace seals when worn-out, to avoid overflowing,
and filters when their edge is ruined and holes are broadened.
Always check water level because, if the boiler remains
dry, resistors could melt and then the only option is to
change them. This is true for older machines, whereas the
new ones have got a self-levelling system.
Be sure the boiler pressure does not go down or exceed 1/1.3
atmospheres because a low pressure can cause a backwash
in it.
Check that water pressure in the PDP (positive displacement
pump) be between 9/10 atmospheres.
Heat filter and filter-holder before start to work, hook
them to the body machine and be sure to have dry and hot
cups.
For the maintenance and the last of the machine is fundamental
insert sea salt in the purifier, because it is able to regenerate
purifier resins (see cleaning
tab).
During the purification it would be better to avoid to operate
the machine command in order to prevent the entrance of
salted water in the boiler. This procedure, and following rinse, allows the machine
to use water without lime, thereby avoiding scaling both
in the boiler and in the piping, and thus obtain a better
espresso.
